The CCBL is pleased to add as an Ambassador to the league former major league pitcher John Wasdin to assist with the organization. John was a first round draft pick by the Oakland A’s in 1993 and played 17 years professionally – 12 seasons in the MLB, plus 2 seasons in Japan. He was a minor league pitching coach for 6 years at all levels with the Oakland A’s, plus the minor league pitching coordinator for 2 years and bullpen coach with the Baltimore Orioles. An alumna of Florida State University, John is also currently serving as the pitching coach for Jacksonville’s Trinity Christian Academy. As an Ambassador to the CCBL, John will assist with league organization as well as be available to coaches and players.
The CCBL is pleased to add as an Ambassador to the league former professional baseball player Terrance Freeman to assist with the organization. Drafted by the Angels in 1993 and the A’s in 1994, he played six seasons with the A’s, Pirates and the Tigers as an infielder-outfielder. He has also worked with the Rockies, Rays, and Giants as an associate scout. Presently a Jacksonville City Councilman, Terrance has been involved with high school (Eagles View Academy and The Bolles School – 14 years) and youth baseball for the last 20 years in the Jacksonville area. The energetic coach, who has a scout’s eye and the ability to motivate, will be a valuable asset to the CCBL.
The Coastal Collegiate Baseball League is pleased to announce the addition of former major league catcher and Jacksonville native Rick Wilkins to our staff of Ambassadors for the league. Rick’s career spanned 11 years in MLB with the Cubs, Astros, Giants, Mariners, Mets, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Padres from 1991-2001. He was nominated for the Roberto Clemente award in 1993/1994 which is awarded to the MLB player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement and positive contributions, both on and off the field. He is also the founder of The Rick Wilkins Foundation, which provides expanded support of recreational opportunities for the developmentally disabled. The CCBL looks forward to utilizing Rick’s baseball knowledge to assist our coaches and players during the season.
The Coastal Collegiate Baseball League is pleased to announce the addition of Jon Farrell to our list of Ambassadors. A native to Jacksonville, Jon was drafted in 1989 in the fourth round by the Cardinals but chose to go to the University of Miami on scholarship. After a transfer to FSCJ in Jacksonville, and becoming an all-state player, Jon was drafted again in 1991, this time by the Pirates in the first round, 24th pick overall. Jon played six years in the Pirate chain before retiring and finishing his education. He has coached at the high school level and is currently a teacher at Lavilla School of the Arts. Jon’s abilities to work with outfielders makes him a valuable asset for our coaches and players.
The CCBL is pleased to add Graham Taylor to our list of league Ambassadors to assist with our coaches and players. Graham is a former Florida Marlin and Jacksonville resident. He will be joining the Coastal Collegiate Baseball League as a league Ambassador this upcoming season. The lefthanded pitcher was a 10 th round pick by the Marlins in 2006 and was the 2007 Marlins Minor League Pitcher of the year before making his Major League debut in 2009. Graham played his collegiate ball at the Miami University (Ohio) where he was a Freshman All-American, Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and a 2-time All-Conference recipient. In 2003 and 2004, Graham played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Mets in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The Coastal Collegiate Baseball league is pleased to announce the addition of Kyle Maulbetsch to our list of Ambassadors. A native to Jacksonville, Kyle played his college baseball at the University of Central Florida, Central Florida Community College, and finished his career at Stetson University in 2010. His playing experience at the collegiate level as an infielder and pitcher allows him to instruct in many areas of the game. Kyle has coached at the high school level and is currently coaching travel showcase baseball with the 5 Star National organization. He is in land acquisition and development for Century Communities.
